More About St Johns

Our starting point will be the marina of Hamata, located ca. two hours (165 km) south of Marsa Alam airport. This marina is the closest to St Johns reef, which we will reach after a ten hours drive. But before diving into the area of St Johns, we will visit the reef Abu Galawa and its main attraction: a small wreck with rich marine life. This reef is ideal for a check dive or on the way back as a night dive.

The big reef Shaab Sataya is also called Dolphin Reef because of the many dolphins. This place is well known for its Roman remains, but, unfortunately, much of this is now gone due to the irresponsible behavior of some visitors.

More DETAILS

Shaab Claudio is consisting of a maze of caves that are easy to explore due to the large openings on the surface, they are famous for their beautiful scenery. We will pass the tip of the peninsula of Ras Banas, around the Gulf of the ancient port of Berenice, and spend the night close to the island Sirnaka where a wreck will be waiting for us.

John's Reef is a huge reef of 21 km by 13 km lying below the Peninsula Berenice. This area is offering many dive sites thanks to the many "Habili". This is a name given by locals for reefs that are rising to the surface with a plateau situated between 60 and 80m from the bottom and that is only accessible via a liveaboard or mini safari. The drop-offs covered with gorgonians and black corals attract large pelagics: gray tip and white tip sharks, thresher sharks, and hammerheads. Manta rays, in the proximity of groupers and wrasses, are offering an exceptional view.

On the plateau, covered with the rays of the sun, a range of colors are coming alive and you will wish you could forever enjoy the beautiful sight.

Johns woods, Habili St Johns woods, Gotta waste, Habili Wasta, Abu Basala, Gotta Hemera, Fendira Hemara Little reef, The Nursery, Habili Omran, Erg Om Aruk, Habili Gafar, Habili el Radio are some of the reefs you might be diving during your stay.

The final itinerary is not limited to the reefs mentioned above as we will also take into account the climatic conditions, level of diversity and of course the wishes of our guests Read more
